Services We Offer

We believe in enabling families to learn effective techniques for solving problems by strengthening family relationships, affirming the values families already hold and guiding families in changing the ways members support and relate to one another.

Individual & Family Diagnostic Evaluations

The Seton Family Center, or SFC, provides comprehensive, evidence–based mental health services. An initial appointment is scheduled with the parent or guardian to gain a clear understanding of the concerns for which help is being sought. Individual, family, or parent only appointments may be recommended based on the

issues or problems identified as the focus of treatment. By evaluating the
best way to address you and your child’s goal we can achieve success together and help with:

  • Under achievement at school or work
  • Prolonged difficulty with adjusting to change
  • Changes in mood, appetite or sleep
  • Low self–esteem
  • Inattention, impulsivity and/or hyperactivity
  • Defiance and behavior problems
  • Excessive fearfulness or anxiety
  • Family issues, including divorce
  • Chemical dependency

Diagnostic Services

Psychological Testing

We offer Psychological Testing for school–age children and adolescents to help assess an individual’s current level of functioning (intellectual, academic and social–emotional)and is administered through standardized paper–and–pencil measures. Parents, teachers and other caregivers may be asked to complete questionnaires regarding the child’s behavior and functioning. Following testing, results and recommendations are reviewed with the parents.

Diagnostic Services

SFC provides a full psychosocial assessment for all clients at intake. SFC providers can conduct evaluations for ADHD in children and adolescents. On a limited basis, SFC providers can conduct complete psycho-educational and academic assessments for children and adolescents.

Therapy Sessions

Therapy is a helpful way for youth and adults to learn and develop skills in a number of areas that help improve their overall functioning. The Seton Family Center of St. Aloysius offers a variety of therapy types.

Individual Therapy

We work with clients individually on goals related to identified problem areas. Building coping skills and improving behavior and/or emotion management are frequently part of the appointments. Home assignments are often given in order to practice
new skills or modify problem behaviors.

Family Therapy

We work with a client and members of their family, such as a child and parent(s). Family interactions are the focus and often involve building better communication skills and parenting skills.

Groups for Children & Adolescents

Group Therapy can be an effective way for youth to learn skills that help them improve their functioning and self–confidence. Groups are arranged by age and typically focus on one primary topic.

Groups for Parents

The goal is to improve the skills of parents and empower them to manage their child’s challenging behaviors more effectively.

Play Therapy

Play therapy, or expressive therapy, enables children to deal with and
successfully process their feelings
in a way that explores relationships,
solves problems and lets them grow in their emotional security.
